Place the plaque on a flat work surface and measure the length.
With a level, draw a line across the bottom of the plaque with a pencil at the location you want the bottom of the numbers to rest, angling the line in the direction that you want the numbers to go. Mark the proposed start and end point for the entire run of numbers with a straightedge and a vertical line going through the horizontal line.
Space the numbers evenly between the two points. Start with the first and last number for longer runs, then positioning the middle numbers in between. Mark the mounting holes of each number with a pencil using the number as your guide. Remove all of the numbers, setting them aside. Position the template on the plaque using a level.
Slide the bolts through each number and then through a spacer if desired. Apply glue to the ends of the spacers and let this dry. Apply glue in each pilot hole. Push the first number into the plaque. Repeat this process with each additional number. Screw the numbers in place if recommended by the number manufacturer, skipping the glue.
